Portland International Jetport's Affordability Ranked Best in Northern New England

PORTLAND, Maine – July 31, 2014 – The Portland International Jetport (PWM) continues to offer the most affordable airfares in the region according to a recent study by Cheapflights.com.  In its Fifth Annual Airport Affordability Index, Cheapflights.com reported that Portland International Jetport ranked 13th of the nation’s 101 most affordable airports, besting all other airports in Northern New England, including Manchester, NH and Boston-Logan.

The index averages the airfare prices their site users found during the month of June when searching for flights to popular domestic and international destinations. The rankings show travelers how nearby airports measure up, and provides them with extra insight into the cheapest departure and arrival points, potentially expanding their options during a flight search.

While the Jetport’s rank has fluctuated since the first affordability report, its average airfare has steadily declined from $394 in 2011 to 2014’s average of $308.

"Exploring flight options can be tedious and time consuming at times," explained Paul Bradbury, airport director. "This study reinforces the Jetport as not only the most convenient, but the most affordable for local travelers.”

The Portland International Jetport continues to meet the rising needs of tourists and locals alike by offering five major airlines as well as the three largest passenger airline alliances providing a network of connectivity and convenience for worldwide travel.

"We are a vibrant and growing airport thanks to the many people who choose to fly Portland," said Bradbury. "It's an exciting time for the Jetport, and it's gratifying to be an increasingly valuable resource and convenience to travelers.”
