PORTLAND, Maine - The Portland International Jetport announced this morning that Southwest Airlines is expanding their weekend only service to Chicago Midway to Daily service for the summer. The expanded service starts June 6, 2021.
“We continue to see our airline partners add capacity into Portland for the summer,” said Paul Bradbury, Airport Director. “We thank Southwest Airlines for the additional investment in our market and believe this service will be a great addition for Southwest travelers, especially those with westbound connection needs” he continued.
The new service adds significant westbound flow to Southwest Airlines network out of Portland with over 1,000 westbound seats a week.
“Connecting westbound was a big initiative for us Pre-COVID” said Zach Sundquist, Assistant Airport Director. “This additional westbound flow will allow many more Southwest Airlines passengers access to non-stop or one-stop connections to Portland, which is a huge improvement in a post-COVID environment where minimizing time in transit is important” he continued.
