It is likely if you live within 10 miles of the Jetport to either the north or south you will notice an increase in traffic from 8:00am April 18, 2022 - 5:45am June 13, 2022. We are finalizing planned flight paths with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and will post those anticipated flight patterns on this website when finalized.
The timeframe of April 18 - June 13 was chosen to minimize impact to both the community and our airline partners. After mid-June our traffic levels increase significantly.
We are working with our airline partners to ensure that all flights are planned for our shorter runway. We also have shared the 28 days of overnight closures and the airlines are de-conflicting their schedules from that closure.
The Jetport has worked closely with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to investigate and evaluate flight procedures that are least impactful to the greatest number of neighbors. Additional information will be posted prior to the project on anticipated arrival and departure cooridors.
Asphalt surfaces have a limited lifespan and require periodic repair and rehabilitation, just like roads and bridges. Factors like aircraft operations and weather overtime contribute to the Pavement Condition Index (PCI) hitting thresholds that require resurfacing by the FAA. Runway 11/29, the primary runway at Portland International Jetport was resurfaced in 2004. Asphalt runways in northern climates typically require rehabilitation every 15-20 years.
Yes, the Jetport is working with the Noise Advisory Committee (NAC) to set a meeting in early April. This meeting will be open to the public and all are encouraged to attend.
