EMERGENCY EXERCISE - SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14, 2024

The City of Portland will host a full-scale training exercise at the Portland International Jetport on Saturday, September 14, 2024 from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM. This exercise will test all faculties of the Jetport as a simulated aircraft crash will occur, and the response will involve numerous City departments, local agencies, and area hospitals, including MaineHealth Maine Medical Center and Northern Light Mercy Hospital. Every three years, a full-scale exercise is required by the FAA.

Operations at the airport will continue as usual and will not be negatively impacted by the training. Portland firehouses will continue to provide appropriate response for the duration of the airport exercise.

Jetport Operational Update

The Portland International Jetport is providing an operational update given the Shelter in Place orders in several of our communities. The Jetport remains open and flights are operating. Our partners at Portland Police and the Department of Homeland Security have increased patrols out of an abundance of caution. Passengers under a shelter in place order or who are not comfortable leaving their home should contact their airline to rebook to later flights.

TROPICAL DEPRESSION HENRI

Tropical Depression Henri is expected to continue to impact flights throughout New England Monday (8/23)  - Tuesday (8/24). Please check with your airline for current flight status. All of our airline partners have issued travel advisories for this storm.
