Overview:
As part of our capital improvement program we will be reconstructing Taxiway A during the spring and summer of 2024. This project includes the elimination of taxiways D and E and the construction of a new taxiway A4. The project begins April 22, 2024 and will continue through September.
The project will include a closure of the primary runway 11/29 (east/west) from 10:30pm - 5:45am daily. Operations during this period will be on our north/south runway.

Runway Impacts:
With much of the work occurring in the runway safety area we will have 100 nightly closures (10:30pm - 5:45am) of our primary runway from April 22, 2024 - July 31, 2024. We have an additional 14 days (24 hour a day closure) from September 11, 2024 - September 25, 2024. During these periods any air traffic will be utilizing our north/south runway.
Noise Impacts:
The use of the north/south runway will mean that communities not normally impacted by aircraft noise from 10:30pm - 5:45am will experience noise during these hours. Impacted communities include Portland, Scarborough, South Portland, and Westbrook. Flight Tracking and Noise Complaints can be logged on our noise monitoring site.
